She always greeted me with her warm smile:) I loved getting to know the both of you. Every time I eat a Godiva truffle from now on I will always think of her. Please let me know if there is anything that you need or that I can do for you. Kathleen

Because I live in DE, I don't get the Phila. newspapers; however, my brother, Dan, called me to tell me he saw Emma's obit in the newspaper. I "googled" her name, and although there wasn't enough info included re her final arrangements that would have allowed me to "be there", I called Carto funeral home, hoping to get more. Unfortunately, it was too late; I was told she had been cremated "last week". I have to say that I'm sorry the family 'togetherness' is/was as it is/was. Comments:Blake: this is a continuation of the note I sent...that somehow got excluded from the original: Emma knew me as Aunt Angie. I last saw her when, to my amazement, she happened to be our waitress at a restaurant near Ridley Park..where my 'work group' was celebrating a holiday event. That was at least eight years ago. Although I was happily 'shocked' to see her, it was at that time, after we kissed/embraced, that she told me she changed her name to Emma. Emma was named after my mother, Amelia. And, as the "Force" would have it, she also died the same day that my mother died. If one believes in the Karmic force at all, I'm confident that my mom was there to receive & embrace her, when Emma opened the door to her next existence. Each year, on July 5th, my heart is always saddened by the memory of my mother who died when I was 11 years old. Now...July 5th will hold a double meaning: the loss of two wonderful women, both of whom died from CA...and who will continue to live in "m

Comments:Blessings to you and yours Blake as you release the spirit of Emma on her journey. I know how hard this can be, yet I find a special closeness with loved ones after their transition .. still present always. Love, Judith I thought - I thought I saw your face today, In the sparkle of the morning sun. And then I heard the angel say, “Their work on earth is done.” I thought I heard your voice today, Then laugh your hearty laugh, And then I heard the angel say, “There’s peace dear one at last.” I thought I felt your touch today, In the breeze that rustled by. And then I heard the angel say, “The spirit never dies.” I thought I saw my broken heart, In the crescent of the moon. And then I heard the angel say, “They left you with their love.” I thought that I would miss you so, And never find my way. And then I heard the angel say, “They’re with you every day.” “The sun, the wind, the moon, the stars, Will forever be around, Reminding you of the love you

Comments:Amelia (apparently I am the only one who gets away with calling her by her given name--a beautiful name that has special meaning to me) touched my heart and life in ways I still don't understand. I would imagine she had this effect on many people in her life. I was honored and humbled to care for her and to say I will never forget her and Blake sounds trite and silly. She will remain in my heart forever. Her humor, intuition, selflessness and ability to love so freely someone she hardly knew are true blessings in my life that I will carry with me. Blake, my heart is with you today. -Suzanne

Comments:Blake just informed me that Emma will be coming home to spend her final momments. I am at a loss for words. First, let me say who I am and how I know Emma and Blake. I am Abby and live in the same building as Emma and Blake. Emma and Blake have looked after me for the past 2 years. The 2 of them have been so kind to me. They have taken out the trash for me every week, they have invited me for dinner, and Emma has consoled me about stupid boys that have upset me. She has given me compliments and advice. The smell of her cooking has given me a reminder of home at times when I miss my mom, and has encouraged me to cook more for myself. I will miss her heavy feet coming down the stairs in the morning to walk Blake out every morning, and I will miss her telling him that she loved him and have a great day, while I am getting ready for work.I hope that she gets to say everything she wants to her loved ones and that she spends these final days in peace with Blake. I know she will watch over Bl

Should you need me for anything that I can provide for you as much as one can do through cyberspace...please do not hesitate to get in contact...as I have been through it before along with many others...all we can do at this point is pray, pray, pray. Comments:KB and Emma, I'm old enough to have seen may of my family and friends deal with cancer. Some overcame it and some didn't. After reading your story ... of your relationship and journey, I am reminded that life is no measured in years but in love. Your story is powerful and curative to many of us. You both are always in my prayers because I have seen things happen in my family that underscore that God is sovereign, not disease, doctors, and treatments. I hope you both realize that you are an incredible example of honest and sincere love during difficult times and this is a rare and precious thing. Thank you for sharing it.

You are right, we don't know or understand God's intentions, but Prayer is the best way to handle any of this.
